Reproduction of the Merovingian Trivières Helmet
Helmet from Trivières
Reproduction of the Merovingian helmet from Trivières
This Merovingian helmet was found in Trivières (Hainaut) in a burial in open ground.
The date is from the beginning of the 6th century.
Here we see the different stages of manufacturing of the reproduction of the helmet.
The work was done from archaeological studies carried out by the laboratory of the iron museum in Nancy.
For this restitution, the dimensions and the technique used for riveting the pieces were respected.
Indeed, the riveting was embedded in the mass without visually seeing the rivet exceeded.
A light sanding was carried out allowing the hammer marks to be seen during the planing stage
